  • Team Foundation Server Client Frustrations!

Have any of you tried to create a client for Team Foundation Server? Have you ever noticed that the TFS assemblies that are added to the GAC platform specific? Have you ever wanted to kick someone square in the...

Anyway... why are these assemblies tied to the x86 platform? I've been extremely frustrated over the past week or so trying to create tools that with TFS integration on my x64 development box. I have yet to see a logical reason for the assemblies being x86 only so if you do please feel free to enlighten me but in the mean time the best work around I've found  is to use a Virtual PC and do all of my client development virtually but this solution is not ideal. Keep in mind this also makes any tool created using these assemblies stuck to the x86 platform so using them may really annoy your clients etc...

There also appears to be a lack of information online about this problem. At this point I would be happy with an explanation of why this was done and a date to look forward to a patch.

So if anyone has any information about this please let me know.

  • Quick Introduction

I thought since a lot of you probably won't know who I am that I would give a little introduction.

I recently changed jobs from a Software Developer at 1-800 Contacts, Inc to a Software Architect for a Teleperformance USA (I'm still trying to get use to this). I started off my career with web applications development sometime around 1995. I've since expanded to all types of applications. I've worked on software for quite a few industries in my career including ISP's, financial institutions and insurance agencies. I try to keep up in the software development community though users groups as well as blogs, IRC networks and forums.

I plan on using this blog to post about my day to day issues and successes with my software development/architecture career as well as my community involvement.

I hope some of you stick around and I'll try not to bore you to death. I look forward to getting back into the blogging spirit!
